About this blog

This will be a boring blog. No doubt more interesting to me than to anybody else.

I intend to use it to post reflections about incidents on placement. Mainly because it’s therapeutic to write out scenarios and what I think about them. So it will probably have a more negative feel that a positive one. I’m less likely to want to write about all the lovely positive incidents that go well. There may be a few of those in here. But it’s more likely to contain accounts of learning from mistakes, stressful events and worrying thoughts and feelings. That’s just the kinda girl I am.

I will maintain total confidentiality of patients and placements. It will most definately be impossible to identify anybody from reflections posted here. If it appears that it would be easy to trace an individual, I have probably made up half of the details to throw people of the scent. Not that I expect anybody reading this to be at all bothered about trying to identify random patients and staff they’re never likely to meet.

At some later point, I may try to use some models of reflection. I’m interested in Gibbs because everyone says it’s the most popular. I like the look of a simple model that I’ve seen attributed to Rolfe and also to Driscoll. So I’m basically confused about that. And apparently there’s John’s model also. I may explore this later. For now it will be just random words that describe situations and explore my thoughts and feelings.

So that’s it.
